In 2009, world wine star Ricardo Cutrella, owner of Flasco wineries, came to visit Bethlehem. He came accompanied by an agronomist and other experts to visit the Karmisan winery located in the monastery, which was known until then for its incredibly sweet and medium-bodied wines. Cutrella volunteered to help Crimizan Winery reinvent itself; He studied the area, and gradually began to do two things: restore the vineyards and send samples of local grape varieties for research in Italy.
Along with the production of the wines, the winery also produces an incredibly delicious arak made of 100% sticky grapes, a local variety typical of the region. The arak is produced in the ancient alcohol distillery of the monastery and the result is a drink of high quality and a very unique character.
